Fitness and Wellness Manager

Full Time

The Fitness and Wellness Manager (FWM) is a leadership position and that fulfills a critical role in the overall success of a company that is uniquely positioned and passionately committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the members and communities we serve.

POSITION DETAILS: The duties of the FWM will include the development, management, and overall leadership of the Fitness and Wellness Department Team. Has a concentrated knowledge of, and is the center’s expert for, specific health and wellness related matters including, but not limited to: clinically-integrated/preventative transition programming, general nutrition principles related to weight loss, and corporate/worksite wellness initiatives. Experienced in developing, managing and administering a comprehensive and individualized approach to whole-person health and the associated service offering designed to achieve an optimal state of wellbeing. This is inclusive of delivering safe and effective exercise prescriptions protocols, employing basic lifestyle and behavior management principles and applying the department’s assessment and health risk stratification policy. The FWM will also be responsible for the development and administration of all physician referred, medically-based programming as well as all corporate health/worksite wellness programming.

DIRECT REPORTS: Worksite Wellness Coord., Fitness Services Coord., Exercise is Medicine Coord., Wellness Specialists (RD, RN, etc), Fitness Service Associates, Fitness Floor Attendants

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field (exercise physiology, athletic training, public health)

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of four years of strong, progressive experience in exercise prescription and health/wellness coaching for healthy and special populations
  • Minimum of two years of management experience, including customer service, in fitness and wellness
  • Experience in corporate health/worksite wellness programming
  • Certifications such as, but not limited to: NATA- AT; ACSM- EP, NASM- CES, CHES, CWWPM, ACSM- EIM, BLS/AED
  • Pass Background Check
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Personal Trainer

Part Time

The Personal Trainer is a key member of the Fitness Team. Must display a concentrated knowledge of specific training and performance-related matters including, but not limited to: sports and human performance, general nutrition principles and personal and/or small group training. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: A Personal Trainer must be experienced in overseeing and executing a best-in-class sports performance program which is inclusive of incorporating cutting-edge science and research alongside proven and effective training techniques and applying it to youth, as well as elite level, athletes to maximize their human potential and performance. The Personal Trainer will also be responsible for the execution of the personal and small-group training ancillary service line and delivering a highly-motivating and well-organized experience.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certifications such as, but not limited to: NSCA-CSCS, NASM- PES/CPT, NATA- AT, BLS/AED

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pass Background Check

Fitness Floor Attendant

Part Time

Must have a general knowledge of exercise guidelines and general fitness. The Fitness Floor Attendant is able to explain and instruct a client’s prescribed exercise prescription and provide instruction on safe fitness practice and correct exercise techniques. Is able to apply the department’s health risk stratification policy to ensure all clients safe initiation of exercise in the center. Duties will also include executing day-to-day operations of the fitness floor, providing supervision to members exercising on the fitness floor. 

POSITION EXPECTATIONS :

  •  Embody core values and service delivery model. 
  • Competent in conducting a level 1 pre-activity screening, including executing the center’s health risk stratification policy, on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide accurate instruction on general exercise and fitness guidelines.
  • Committed to providing the best services possible by maintaining current certifications, attending continuing education seminars, and reviewing industry literature.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely operate all equipment and services related to the Fitness and Wellness Department or other assigned tasks and hold all appropriate certifications to do so.
  • Provide appropriate re-direction to members performing dangerous or harmful exercises.

REPORTS TO : Fitness and Wellness Supervisor

DIRECT REPORTS : None

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Associate’s degree in Exercise Science or related field (Exercise Physiology, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training or Sport Management/Recreation.)
  • Current BLS/AED Certification
  • HIRING REQUIREMENTS :
  • Pass Federal background check
  • Fluent in the English language
  • Legal to work in the United States

PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES :
Certified personal trainer through a reputable third party accredited organization (ACE, AFFA, NETA, etc.)
Minimum of one-year experience in fitness for healthy and special populations.

Fitness Coach

Part Time

The Fitness Coach is a key member of the Fitness team. Must be able to develop and administer a comprehensive pre-activity screening and design an appropriate plan of care that includes an appropriate exercise prescription. Has a concentrated knowledge and mastery of exercise prescription and fitness for a wide scope of populations. Is able to apply the department’s health risk stratification policy to ensure all clients safe initiation of exercise in the center. Duties will also include executing day-to-day operations, providing supervision to members exercising on the fitness floor, delivering safe and effective personal training services, assisting administering medically-integrated programs, and potentially instructing small group classes.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

  • Embody core values and service delivery model. 
  • Competent in conducting a comprehensive pre-activity screening, including executing the center’s health risk stratification policy, on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrates ability to create, execute, and modify an effective exercise prescription based on the pre-activity screening findings for general and special populations.
  • Provide safe and effective personal training services to the facility’s membership.
  • Proficient with conducting educational presentations and seminars on various health and wellness related topics.
  • Committed to providing the best services possible by maintaining current certifications, attending continuing education seminars, and reviewing industry literature.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely operate all equipment and services related to the Fitness and Wellness Department or other assigned tasks and hold all appropriate certifications to do so.
  • Provide appropriate re-direction to members performing dangerous or harmful exercises.

Administrative

  • Able to effectively document client assessments, progress, and achievement.
  • Demonstrates competency in managing client scheduling, client contacts, and member tracking software
  • Responsible for the recognizing and reporting all malfunctions of fitness equipment including upholstery issues.
  • Maintain safe environment for members and clients of the Center.
  • Routinely complete the department’s daily task check sheet

Management

  • Provide prompt and customer- friendly follow up to members and clients. Decipher when a concern is required to be elevated to a supervisor or manager.
  • Provides general supervision for clients participating at the facility and is committed to customer service excellence.

General

  • Proficient with all current facility policies and procedures and ensures all operations and practices of the department satisfy those policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a team approach by displaying the willingness to embrace a “facility first” attitude and exceeding expectations in any way possible.
  • Maintain cleanliness of fitness floor areas and equipment
  • Able to lead by example in living a healthy lifestyle.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field (Exercise Physiology, Sports Medicine, or Athletic Training)
    • Current BLS/AED Certification
    • Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification such as, but not limited to: NATA- AT; ACSM- HFS, CES; NASM- CES, CPT; ACE- CPT

    HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

    • Legal to work in the United States
    • Minimum of 1 year of exercise prescription for healthy and special populations.
    • Excellent organizational skills, recording keeping ability and relationship development skills

    PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:

    Skilled communicator, results-oriented, organized, outgoing, friendly, compassionate, team oriented, articulate and proven business development expertise with a strong knowledge of medical fitness and wellness.

    Master’s Degree in pertinent field of study and hold certifications for special populations through nationally accredited organizations.
