PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

As a clinically-integrated Medical Fitness Center, we accept the responsibility and are well-positioned to respond to life alongside coronavirus. Our Pledge of Protection is a 4-prong, multi-faceted approach designed in cooperation with our Medical Advisory Board to keep you safe while using the Center.

Controlled Capacity: The Center capacity will continue to follow all recommendations by the CDC and State of Illinois.  As of 6/11/21 (Phase 5), there are no capacity limits.

Monitored Distancing: Modifications have been made to assure distance is maintained where necessary.

Advanced Disinfecting: We have put enhanced disinfecting systems in place to work in concert with our already thorough cleaning protocols. From an electrostatically applied solution that disinfects all year long to HEPA filters purifying your air, we have you covered. View our “Cleanliness Guarantee.”

Personal ProtectionThroughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Carle Health & Fitness Center has adopted the guidance provided by the State of Illinois. This guidance was developed in alignment with the research and findings of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of 2/28/22, masks are no longer required except during our “Mask Required Hours” – please see below for details.

Please note: From 1 pm to 2 pm Monday – Friday we have a mask required hour. During this time masks will be required in all areas of the Center except for TPC* (including while working out).

*Due to the utilization trends and sufficient space to distance from others, masks are optional in the Training and Performance Center. Masks are still required in all other areas from 1pm to 2pm.

Yes, it’s safe to wear a mask while exercising, but considerations should be made. For example, it’s recommended that you perform low- to moderate-intensity exercise rather than vigorous exercise while wearing a mask. This is because of the decreased airflow allowed through the mask which can affect breathing and your ability to properly regulate body temperature. Please see any of our fitness coaches for recommendations on exercises. This is also a great time to focus on flexibility and strength training versus cardiovascular exercise. This link provides some additional information on mask usage while exercising.

You will notice measures in place to achieve distancing. Some of those modifications include:

  • A few pieces of Cardio/strength equipment will continue to be closed to provide distanced options.
  • Fitness equipment (dumbbells, kettlebells, etc.) rotated daily
  • Reservations required for group fitness classes and use of the lap pool

MEMBERSHIP

Yes, you do have suspension/freeze options as detailed by the terms of your membership agreement. If you choose to suspend or freeze your membership, we ask that you visit the Member Service Desk. 

Temporary Suspension – You may submit a temporary suspension of your membership for a minimum period of one (1) month, up to a maximum of three (3) months, and no more often than once every calendar year.

Medical Suspension – Temporary suspension of your membership is allowed for up to 6 months with a note from a physician.

Yes! We created an opportunity to support you with a Your Wellness, Anywhere, at home membership option. If you elect this option, it will transition ALL members on your membership account to the at-home programming option.  You will be allowed to access our full private library of group fitness content, on-demand group fitness classes, as well as one private session monthly with your Fitness Coach and a personalized exercise prescription. Your Fitness Coach is always available through your MYWellness app.

Your current monthly membership dues will be reduced by 50% for up to a maximum of 6 months. When you decide to come back to the Center for full access, simply contact the Member Service Team to make this change.

Health Alliance members may be able to save money on their fitness center membership through the Fitness Allowance program (Fully-Insured Commercial) and BeFit (Medicare Advantage) programs.

Carle Health & Fitness Center has been selected as a premium location for Renew Active Health Benefits.

The Renew Active Program provides eligible members access to Carle Health & Fitness Center at no cost. Select plan holders of an eligible Medicare Plan insured by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company are eligible for the Renew Active Program.

FACILITY

We are open regular operating hours.

Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 10:00 pm
Friday 5:00 am – 9:00 pm
Saturday 7:00 am. – 6:00 pm
Sunday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

All members 11 to 12 have the option to exercise with a parent during specified times. During family friendly hours, our junior members have full access to the facility including group fitness classes, pools, track and TPC. There are no restrictions on equipment, however the junior member must be with their parent during the full workout. A short orientation is required before the first visit. Lap Pool

The lap pool is open.  Reservations are required for the lap pool during peak hours.  All lanes can accommodate two swimmers.

Peak Lap Pool Hours: Monday-Friday 5 am -10 am and 4 pm -7 pm, Saturday 7 am – 11 am, Sunday 9 am – 12 pm. Limit of one reservation per day. Lap Pool is first come, first served during non-peak hours.

Warm Water Pool

The Warm Water Pool is open.  Capacity in the Warm Water Pool is limited to 24 people at a time.

Whirlpool

The Whirlpool is open.

Yes!  Enjoy both pools on Fridays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm and Sundays from 1:00 pm-3:30 pm. All ages are welcome and parents must remain within arm’s length for young swimmers. Participants must be members or purchase a guest fee for the day.

Aqua Classes are offered mornings and evenings as part of the group fitness schedule. All attendees must have a reservation available via the MYWellness App. There is a limit of members per class to adhere to social distancing requirements. The schedule is available on our website and MYWellness App.

 Reservations may be made 2 days in advance.

We provide body wash, shampoo, conditioner, bath and sweat towels, hair dryers and locks for the locker doors.

Yes. We also have a retail area that includes snack items such as granola bars along with retail apparel.

We ask that you refrain from using the pool, to do your own routine, during scheduled group fitness classes. Click HERE for the current schedule.

To support community wellness, we partner with Carle McLean County Orthopedics (CMCO) and grant them use of the hydrotherapy pool for water therapy/rehabilitation for some patients. CMCO is in the hydrotherapy pool: 

  • Monday through Thursday 12:00 -3:00 pm
  • Monday and Wednesday 3:45 pm to 5:45 pm
  • Friday 2:15pm to 4:30pm **beginning 6/17

The hydrotherapy pool is OPEN for member use during this time but the space available will be affected.

YOUR WELLNESS, ANYWHERE (AT-HOME PROGRAMMING)

Your Wellness, Anywhere programming is a solution for staying engaged with your Center family and motivated to continue with leading a healthy lifestyle while in the safety of your own home. The program includes a wide array of offerings:

  • Live and pre-recorded group fitness classes with your favorite instructors
  • Over 70 on-demand group fitness classes that you can access anytime your schedule allows
  • Fitness Challenges through the MYWellness app to help keep you accountable and motivated
  • Exercise Prescription created by your Fitness Coach
  • Individualized session with your Fitness Coach monthly
  • Services available for an additional cost include:
    • Personal Training
    • Personal Nutrition Programs
    • Small Group Training/HIIT
    • Dietitian Services

Live group fitness classes are available via Zoom to individuals with an active membership (standard or Your Wellness, Anywhere). 

You can access the monthly schedule via MYWellness app and or through our Carle Health & Fitness Center Group Fitness on Facebook.  **This is a private group only available to members.  Once you request to join, membership status will be confirmed before you are added to the group.

Some of our group fitness classes are recorded and available “On Demand” for your viewing after the class has concluded**. If you aren’t familiar with the MYWellness app, email Blake Heinz, Fitness Supervisor, bheinz@iwp-llc.com for assistance.

**Note that due to licensing restrictions, some classes are not allowed to be recorded for future use.

If you are not a Facebook user you can still participate in virtual group fitness classes. Please send an email to our Group Fitness Coordinator at GroupFitness.CHFC@iwp-llc.com to receive the Zoom links for the available group fitness classes.

If you have a smartphone, you can access On Demand programming via MYWellness App (available in the App Store and Google Play).  Please contact Blake Heinz at bheinz@iwp-llc.com for assistance with setting up the MYWellness App.

GROUP EXERCISE (GX)

The full Group Fitness schedule is available.  The class size may be limited based on the facility location. Please utilize the MYWellness app to secure a reservation.

Reservations:

You will be able to register for your favorite Group Fitness classes 2 days before the class is scheduled on your MYWellness app. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and once the class is full no additional members will be able to register.

A waitlist will be available for classes and waitlist participants will be notified when a spot becomes available

We ask that you cancel your reservation if your plans change and you aren’t able to attend class.

SERVICES

Yes, ABC (Activity-Based Childcare) is open with full operating hours. 

Monday through Thursday: 8 am – 12 pm and 4 pm – 8 pm

Friday & Saturday: 8 am – 12 pm

Sunday: 11 am – 3 pm 

While our childcare room has a limited capacity, similar to all other spaces, if we reach capacity, we will move some or all of the children to a larger available space within the Center.

Yes, we will be offering no contact in-person assessments and virtual assessments with our Fitness Coaches.

Yes, you can meet with a Fitness Coach to complete your exercise prescription. Our Fitness Coaches are trained to adhere to safe social distancing while still completing this service. Please see a fitness team member to schedule your appointment.

As a facility, we are prepared to offer virtual and in-person personal training. If members are comfortable with in-person training, our fitness specialists are trained to provide this service while practicing safe social distancing. Please feel free to reach out to us if you are interested in completing a personal training session with one of our Personal Trainers/Fitness Coaches.

The Training and Performance Center (TPC) offers Youth Sports Performance Training for athletes ages 8 – 18 and Adult Training Programs for all fitness levels. Learn more about TPC at www.tpcbloomington.com.

Exercise prevents and manages multiple chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and cancer.  Our Exercise Is Medicine Coordinator partners with your physician to develop a prescribed exercise program to be used at the gym and/or at home.

Our EIM program is a guided introduction to exercise that includes:

  • Support and exercise guidance with degreed and experienced exercise professionals
  • Full access to Carle Health & Fitness Center’s medical fitness facility
  • Unlimited group fitness classes including aqua classes and mind-body classes
  • Use of indoor track, warm water therapy pool, lap pool, whirlpool, steam and sauna
  • A social wellness experience in a non-intimidating exercise setting

Physicians can refer you to our center through a physician referral form. Carle-aligned offices can submit forms directly through EPIC (MyChart online patient portal).
