Every year, people around the world make New Year’s resolutions to improve the quality of their lives. Many have a goal to work out, lose weight, eat differently or sleep more. Oftentimes, these goals are set without the right resources to change. If you know that you want to commit to these things on that arbitrary date of January 1, why not get a head start? Beginning on December 1 will allow you to not only beat the crowds, but you’ll get familiar with a new facility and equipment, the friendly staff, and build connections with members already on a journey to improved health and wellness. Whether it’s swimming laps in the pool, taking a group fitness class, walking the track or following your personalized program, Carle Health & Fitness Center has something for everyone.
Get ahead on a new routine
Let’s face it, starting a new exercise routine at a new facility can be intimidating and scary, add in the multitudes of new faces, and most will put their resolutions and goals aside until there is a better time. There’s no better time than now! Take initiative and schedule your initial assessment with a trainer at your preferred time. Set specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely (SMART) goals and get into your routine early. Trainers will also work with our registered dietitian to align nutritional goals with your exercise program. Together, our staff will help you navigate the holidays and damper the temptation to overindulge on all those tasty treats with ease and accountability. It takes anywhere from 18-254 days for a form a new habit and 66 days for a new habit to become automatic. Managed Stress for the Holidays
The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year full of family, traditions, travel and stress! Whether it’s gift-giving, grocery shopping or figuring out which family will sleep where there’s a lot of stress to manage! Undoubtedly, exercise improves your overall health and wellbeing and helps to decrease the negative side effects of stress. Exercise releases those feel-good hormones called endorphins. Moving 30 minutes a day, 5 times a week is the general recommendation to reap the benefits of movement. Take advantage of the sauna, spa and massage therapist to help reduce your stress and make this truly the most wonderful time of the year!
