Avoiding negative self talk can be very helpful
If you wouldn’t say it to someone else don’t say it to yourself. Oftentimes we can be our own worst enemies and critics. Being overly harsh on yourself will rarely work out well for anyone. Think about the times that you’ve helped a friend through a hard time. Talk to yourself in the same way you would talk to someone struggling. Be more compassionate to yourself. Questions like, Why do I always do this… or Why can’t I ever… These statements only make you feel more stuck. Instead recommit to yourself by asking, Why is this change important to me? What about this change makes me feel good? The next time you are struggling with negative self talk ask yourself, Would I say this to someone else?
