From the Wellness Team: Wellness Wednesday Trainer Tip – Squatting

How does my squat form look?

Let’s hit some basics! Squatting is a common, great exercise that hits a lot of our major muscle groups in the lower body – including the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. First, bring your footing to slightly further than shoulder width apart, your toes can be slightly pointed outwards. Make sure you are keeping your back nice and straight, and your head up for proper alignment. Brace your core and squeeze those glutes as you push your shoulder blades towards the spine. Lower your body as if you were going to sit down in a chair, still focusing on keeping that back neutral with your knees aligned with the toes. Lastly, exhale and straighten your legs back to the starting position and repeat.
