How many reps should I do?
One question many novice exercisers ask about is strength training. If you’re looking for overall health, anywhere between 8-12 repetitions is a great place to start. But when you’re looking to work your strength, you should always add more weight, work heavier, but do less reps (range between 1-7); and if you’re working on endurance and getting leaner, work a little lighter and do more repetitions (range between 10-15). That way, you know that you are working properly to reach your goals and you won’t have to ask why you’re doing the number of repetitions that you’re doing!
